Botswana will on Sunday hold a national day of prayer, thanking the Almighty for the heavy rains experienced recently.

President Ian Khama said it was only befitting that the nation holds thanksgiving ceremony as the “rains answered our fervent prayers,” sparing thousands water shortages.

“In as much as these rains were an answer to our fervent prayers, it is only befitting that we should now give thanks to the Lord who makes all things possible.”

“In this regard, I am declaring that this coming Sunday, the 5th of March 2017, should be a day of national thanksgiving,” Khama said in a message to the nation.

Botswana has not been spared the Cyclone Dineo-induced rains that have left a trail of destruction in southern Africa.”
