Earth Tremor Shakes Parts of Southern Africa

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake has hit Botswana hard, affecting parts of South Africa and Zimbabwe according to earthquaketrack.com.

Reports suggest that the quake struck north of Gaborone in Botswana at a depth of 35 km, the US Geological Survey said.

People took to social media, and reported feeling the tremor in Johannesburg, Mafikeng, Kimberley, Pretoria and other parts of the South Africa.

It has also been felt across Limpopo‚ Mpumalanga‚ North West‚ Illovo‚ Rosebank‚ Centurion‚ Roodepoort‚ Boksburg and Pretoria.

There was a vibration of the ground and shaking of the roofs and rattling of doors for over a minute.

The quake has reportedly been felt in some parts of Zimbabwe with people in Victoria Falls, Jambezi and Bulawayo confirming the tremor.

There has been no reports of any possible damage or casualties at the moment.

Today’s earthquake is reportedly the largest tremor on record to have struck Botswana.
