Harare - President Robert Mugabe has left the country, for the third time within a month, to attend the global platform for disaster risk reduction indaba taking place in Mexico.
Mugabe who usually travels with a huge delegation was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Minister of Environment, Water and Climate, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere among other top officials.
The global platform for disaster risk reduction has been held since 2007 for countries prone to natural and manmade disasters which include floods, hurricanes, droughts and earthquakes among other climate induced disasters.
Every two years the UN indaba brings together heads of state, NGOs and scientists to discuss ways to reduce the risk of disasters and boost livelihoods.
Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko is the acting president.
