President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who has been out of the country for a month seeking medical attention has returned home.
The president was welcomed at Luanda’s airport by the vice president of the Republic, Manuel Vicente and the National Assembly speaker Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, according to the State-owned Angop Newspaper - without shedding light on the President’s suspected poor health.
The 74-year-old’s medical condition has recently been the subject of intense speculation, with his daughter Isabel forced to deny rumours that he had died in Spain.
President Jose Eduardo dos Santos has indicated plans to step down ending three decades of his controversial rule.
He will remain as party leader but has nominated Joao Lourenco, current defence minister, as the MPLA presidential candidate in the coming elections.
