Ivorian Soccer Player Tioté Dies During Training

Tiote died on Monday (June 5th) at the age of 30 while training with his team, Beijing Enterprises.

The Ivorian international Tioté Cheik Imaël , 30, died on Monday (June 5th) during a practice session with his Beijing BG club.His death shocked many soccer fans across the world.

The Ivorian international Tiote Cheik Ismaël won the African Cup of Nations in 2015 after having worn the Newcastle United jersey for seven years.

During his career as a footballer Tiote played for top clubs in Belgium, the Netherlands, England and China.

The player earned titles and laurels, both at club and national level. He was part of the Olympic and Senior Elephants making a total of 60 appearances. Tiote was also part of the Ivorian Team at the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and 2014, as well as the CAN 2010, 2012, 2013 and the 2015 championship crown.

“The reputation of African football, its notoriety, are made by players like him be it on the continent or outside. His death is a shock, especially when one considers the conditions. My thoughts are with his family, his teammates and with all the football family in Côte d’Ivoire.” This was the reaction of the Confederation of African Football president, Ahmad.

FIFA President and the Executive Committee have also send their sincere condolences to the family.
