Zimbabwe’s Music Superstar Oliver Mtukudzi has reportedly dropped veteran drummer and long time band manager, Sam Mataure.
Tuku Music posted on facebook that, “Mr Sam Mataure will no longer be taking bookings for and on behalf of Tuku Music with immediate effect.”
The reasons for Mataure’s sacking or demotion are not yet known.
Mataure became a manager for the Black Spirits in 2007 after Oliver fired veteran music manager Debbie Metcalfe.
Sam later got sacked in 2011 for making “costly mistakes” only to be reappointed a few years later.
One of the major successes of Mataure as a manager was in the organisation of the Mtukudzi Tribute concert in September 2013.
Mataure was also the man behind the successful hosting of Oliver Mtukudzi‘s 60th birthday in Harare. The event attracted well over 10 000 fans.
