As South Africans march against the killing of farmers, another farmer has reportedly been hacked to death in Kwazulu Natal.

Bokkie Potgieter, a vegetable farmer, has been found hacked to death in his bakkie near his Vryheid farm.

“It appears as though Bokkie caught his attacker trying to steal his bakkie. It seems as though there was a struggle and Bokkie was chopped through the face with a panga‚” Van Niekerk a neighbour is quoted in the Herald Live.

“When they got there‚ they saw Bokkie’s body. The killer tried to run away but the farm workers caught and killed him,”Niekerk narrated.

The killed farmer had lived alone on his farm.

Potgieter’s death brings the total amount of farm murders for 2017 to 72; more than the total number of farm murders committed in 2016.

Civil rights organisation AfriForum will on 21 November hold an international day of protest against farm murders and on Saturday, 25 November a protest march will be held to the Union Building to deliver a memorandum to the president.
