Kwese TV has launched a mobile television service in Zimbabwe, enabling customers to tether their decoder channels to their phones.
Subscribers will now be able to watch TV on-the-move through the Kwesé TV mobile app which gives them full access to all the Kwesé channels including the Kwesé Free Bouquet on up to five devices.
Group CEO Douglas Mboweni has been quoted in the media saying this would be the beginning of a different mobile TV service in Zimbabwe. He said Kwese customers in Zimbabwe would soon be able to do “TV roaming” in other countries where Kwese is available.
To support the mobile television service, Econet has rolled out more than 575 fixed Wi-Fi hotspots and 240 mobile sites in the country, in collaboration with sister company ZOL.
Having recently launched in Zambia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland offering its subscribers thousands of hours of exclusive sports and first to market entertainment content, Kwese TV is working to diversify its programming and ensure that all genres are adequately supplied particularly when it comes to all encompassing, family driven programming.
