Harare - South African controversial dancer and socialite popularly known as Zodwa Wabantu is set for a second dance in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on Friday - months after government banned her from performing in the country.
Zodwa, known for her skimpy dresses and not wearing underwear, was expected to perform at the Harare International Carnival in August but authorities banned her from entering the country.
The ban followed a protest letter by former Studio 263 actress Anne Nhira to then acting Tourism minister, Patrick Zhuwawo.
Censorship Board chairperson and former cabinet minister Aeneas Chigwedere to justify the ban said Zodwa’s act had “immoral overtones” and they needed to protect the youth and the community at large.
The Durban socialite, who caused a stir in her debut performance in Zimbabwe in July, is however expected to do the same when she dates her fans at one of Bulawayo’s top clubs, Club Connect.
The club has hosted other top South African acts such as DJ Tira and Tipcee, Zodwa wabantu, Destruction Boyz among others.
