President Robert Mugabe and Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Zimbabwean President designate, Emmerson Mnangagwa has revealed plans to set up a transitional administration to stabilise the country’s comatose economy and deal with the dire socio-political situation.

“We are currently working on a transitional arrangement which will lead to the dispensation which will unfold tomorrow,” Mnangagwa said in a statement.

This confirms widespread speculation that the new President may include the opposition in the transitional government before election can be held in Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa’s hint at a transitional government is set to be well received by the opposition which has been pushing for such.

He commented the Zimbabweans for being peaceful and disciplined.

Mnangagwa will be sworn in on Friday as the country’s President, replacing Robert Mugabe who stepped down a few days ago after heavy pressure from several quarters.
