Zimbabwe’s top musician and performer Leonard Karikoga Zhakata is humbled by how fans have received and embraced his yet-to-be released ‘hit’ Game Changer.
Revealing to Allnetafrica.com, the talented artiste said that it has never happened in his musical career spanning over two decades, that fans love, dance, sing along and even request for a song that has not been released to the market.
“Game Changer has been requested everywhere we go as if its already on air and we are upbeat ahead of its release possibly before Christmas”.
Zhakata’s new album is set to hit the market anytime from now and fans should expect a special Christmas treat from the wordsmith whose last two albums ‘Zvangu Zvaita’ and ‘Mutungadzese’ did very well on the local market.
The band’s manager, Ben Zhakata, feels Game Changer will fit into the socio-economic environment and that will likely make it a hit although the seven-track album carries equally explosive and danceable music.
“Very well everywhere patinoiridza mmmmm fans Love it,’’said Ben in reference to Game Changer.
The new album which could have been released earlier this year was delayed due to the band’s busy schedule. The group has been busy with live shows, voter education campaign road shows and Jingles meant to raise resources for Studio time and artists.
If all goes according to plan, the new album will be accompanied by videos as requested by Zhakata’s loyal fans.

Leonard rose to fame in 1994 with the hit song ‘Mugove’ off the album ‘Maruva Enyika’. He broke new ground in the music industry by becoming the youngest and the first Zimbabwean solo musician to sell over 100 000.
Zhakata and the late Makion who was an amazing dancer and composer, took the industry by storm in the 90s under the name Maungwe Brothers.
Zhakata is admired by many for leading an exemplary and humble life in an industry where many have grown big-headed due to fame and success. He has managed, with remarkable success, to draw a line between his life as a public figure and his private space making him a perfect role model to aspiring artists.
