The government-owned Herald Newspaper has reported that Ousted President Robert Mugabe has reached a political agreement with the opposition alliance leader Nelson Chamisa which will see the former First Lady Grace Mugabe bouncing back as Vice President if the Opposition Wins.
The Herald known for its alleged support of the ruling party, has claimed that the “MDC Alliance leader Mr Nelson Chamisa met former president Mr Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace last Friday in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, where they agreed on a 20-member Cabinet team if he wins the elections on July 30.”
According to daily, Mr Mugabe pledged U.S $2 million for Mr Chamisa’s campaign and Mrs Grace Mugabe would be appointed Vice President while Dr Bhekitemba Mpofu would be the co-Vice President in a Cabinet constituted by former G40 cabals.
Professor Jonathan Moyo, who fled the country last November, is earmarked for the Foreign Affairs portfolio, according to the Herald report.
Moyo has scoffed at the report on twitter, “Hahaha the alleged meeting is evidence Mnangagwa is now having very bad dreams about his impending electoral defeat. #Herald should be fair & report all Mnangagwa’s bad dreams. They’re very entertaining!”
The opposition has also rubbished the claims with Chamisa’s spokesperson, Dr Nkululeko Sibanda, firing back.
“People are clutching at straws. I have seen the list with some people whom we do not even know. The next thing that they will say is that Chamisa met an angel”.
The new government has allegedly tried to link Nelson Chamisa to ousted leader Robert Mugabe in a bid to demonise and smear-campaign him ahead of the elections.
