Zimbabwe Faces Bread Shortage.

Harare: Zimbabwean faces another round of bread shortages, the Grain Milers Association (GMAZ) warned citing depleted wheat stocks.

“We regret to advise that the current stocks for foreign wheat for bread flour have depleted to 5,800 tonnes and… we are left with less than eight days of national bread flour supplies,” GMAZ general manager Lynnette Veremu is quoted saying in a letter addressed to the National Bakers Association of Zimbabwe (NBAZ).

Zimbabwe requires 38 000 metric tonnes of wheat per month.

The southern African country owes suppliers several hundreds of thousands dollars United States dollars in outstanding payments for wheat deliveries owing to foreign currency challenges.
