Luanda - The Angolan Football Federation has withdrawn its national soccer team from Cosafa Cup competition due to financial constraints.
According to the Federation, the scant resources available will be channeled towards the preparations ahead of the African Cup of Nations.
Angola follows another Southern Africa country, Zimbabwe, in falling out with Cosafa.
Zimbabwe was suspended from COSAFA and fined US$50 000 for failure to honour an agreement to host the 2019 COSAFA Cup.
Zimbabwe failed to host this year’s regional tournament set for May 25-June 8 citing inadequate facilities and less time to prepare, and South Africa has since stepped in as hosts.
