Over 200 families have received food donations from Zimbabwean run companies based in Cape Town following food plea by hundreds of distressed nationals.

The donations are part of the broader initiative by the Zimbabweans in Cape Town (ZIC) to help feed brothers and sisters who have run out of basic food after more than a month of no incomes.

The Zimbabwean Consulate in Cape Town gave thumps up to the charity project which took off as a reaction to the five-week covid-19 lock-down declared by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Zororo Phumulani, AllnetAfrica, Bra Stu and Kayze Kitchenware are among the main donors who head the call to feed a brother and sister.

Zororo Phumulani, a funeral company donated food parcels to many families in and around Cape Town while Bra Stu, a popular driving school provided breakfast to more than twenty families.

Online News Start-up AllnetAfrica.com donated groceries worth more than R15 000 to Families severely affected by the Covid-19 induced Lock-down in Cape Town.

The beneficiaries were randomly selected from the database of distressed Zimbabweans who appealed for help through AGAPE – a Non Profit Making Organisation and ZIC.

“AllnetAfrica is happy to be part of the givers and to play a role in the fight against the effects of Coronavirus,” AllnetAfrica.com Co-Founder and Editor Victor Chipato said.

“AllnetAfrica’s online presence has increased significantly thanks to our readers in Cape Town hence the need to give back to the community.”

“We Urge the Zimbabwean business community and the public to continue supporting us so that we can share the African story to the world,” Chipato appealed.

Over 2000 Zimbabweans in the coastal city have appealed for assistance and the numbers keep on rising daily.

One of the ZIC leaders Frank Mushakavanhu, thanked Zimbabweans in Cape Town Covid-19 Relief Team for taking the risk and distribute food parcels in the midst of the pandemic. ZIC’s frontline crew comprises Gibson Karimakuenda, Weston Hussein Willie, Getrude Mazvimavi and Linda Manyarara and others who are behind the scenes.
