Zimbabweans facing difficulties due to Covid-19 Lockdown have been invited by their Embassy/Consulate to submit details if they are in need of food aid.

The International Organisation for Migration has requested Zimbabwean authorities in South Africa to compile a list of vulnerable people to be included in the feeding scheme.

“Priority in the provision will be given to expecting mothers, unemployed youths and women-headed families,” according to the Zimbabwe Consulate statement.

Thousands of Zimbabweans who have been employed mainly in South Africa’s hospitality sector found themselves out of work due to the lockdown.

Some of the immigrants have been forced to go back to Zimbabwe where they face an uncertain future while others have no option but to wait for local restrictions to be eased.
