United States-based legendary musician Thomas ‘Mukanya’ Mapfumo is billed to perform at Bo-Kaap Hall on Saturday the 20th of November in what promises to be a grand wrap-up to his South African tour.
The 76 year-old artiste held sold-out shows in Johannesburg and Pretoria earlier in the month and now heads to the mother city before flying back to his American base.
In a video confirmation Mukanya urged his fans to come in numbers, “It’s time to enjoy and interact as one family, we have successfully concluded our Joburg shows so be ready we are coming.”

‘The lion of Zimbabwe‘ will be supported by Elcee Gweja, Brian Makore, Gameboi and Paddy Watts. On the decks, Juggling Captain Pliez and Bento Bodyslam will also keep fans on feet.
Mapfumo is well known for being vocal often condemning corruption and human rights violations in Zimbabwe since the colonial era - placing himself on a collision course with the authorities.
Mapfumo has been a tireless critic of the late President Robert Mugabe and the dictatorship that rules Zimbabwe, a stance which forced him into exile by the turn of the century.
